Any help on a steering squeak in my 2002 ford escape?

When I turn the wheel on my 2002 ford escape there is a loud squeaking sound that comes from under the drivers side. I thought maybe the tyrod needed greasing but I cant find any grease fittings there so I am confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated
