Is a drawing a good gift for a guy you like?

I have liked this guy for about a year now. He's my one of my best friends and we hang out a lot. He doesn't know how I feel for him though. Anyways his 18th birthday is coming up and I was wondering if a drawing is a good idea? I'm really good at drawing and especially portraits. I was thinking of drawing Altair from in's Creed. He really, really likes that game but I can't afford to buy him Brotherhood he seriously wants. ^^"'
