Mosin-Nagant M44 question?

I'm in need for a hog rifle and a (relatively) cheap plinker, and have been interested in a M44 for awhile, my old .22 is on its last leg and my 12 ga is useless as it has no sights and is a one shottie. I'm 15 so I can't just go up and buy one, and from what I hear are sighted in well, so any ideas on what a good conditioned M44 would run me? I don't need any 7.62x39 suggestions; I don't want AK or SKS, as I have shot my share of them, and I doubt that would run real well with the person would be buying it:)
