Any idea, thought ...?
Clearly, the ideals of America are graciously welcoming of new peoples, and confer equality without prejudice. We are not forced to simply leave our heritage and civilization behind, but can rather create a synthesis of old and new experiences to improve upon and actualize ourselves. Although those who are hateful and ignorant will try to prove otherwise. It is in fact the wisdom and richness of other cultures and languages that significantly contribute to the fabric of this society. (Source: Torn between Two Cultures: An Afghan-American Woman Speaks Out [p. 67], by Maryam Quadrat Aseel, 2003, Sterling, VA: Capital Books.) In what ways do you think our culture benefits from the input, citizenship, and contributions of people from other cultures?
